HYPERBOLE--the best literary device known to mankind:)

Directions: As you can see demonstrated in the title above, a hyperbole is a deliberate exaggeration that you use for effect. This means that you speak this way on purpose so that others know how strongly you feel about something! In the examples of hyperbole below, identify the hyperbole and write what it means in the Comments section.

1. I was freezing to death when I took a walk near the lake last January.
2. She had told him a million times where she was going, but he asked her again anyway.
3. This is the best coffee shop in the world.
4. The new mom said she hadn't slept in ages!
5. I have been waiting in this line forever!
6. It was so hot in Florida I could not breathe!
7. My heart stopped when I saw my old friend.
8. When the thief was caught, his whole world came crashing down.
9. The man said he saw his whole life flashing before him in the moments after his accident.
10. Terence's friends would tell you he talks nonstop after winning a hockey game.

HYPERBOLY

1. I was freezing to the death. ( was very cold.)
2. She had told him a million times. ( She said a lot of times.)
3. This is the best coffee shop in the world ( The person thing the coffe shop is the best one for him.)
4. She hadn't slept in ages. ( She dasn't slept for long time.
5. Waiting in this line for long time. ( He is in the line for long time.)
6. It was so hot and I Could not breathe. ( the weather was very hot and was difficult to breathe.)
7. My hart stopped when I saw . ( The person was very emotional to see he/her friend.)
8. His whole world came crashing daw. ( When he is arrested he will receive the punishment he deserves.)
9. He saw his whole life passing. ( He remembered every single moment of his life in the moment of the accident.)
10 He talks nonstops after his time wining. ( he a lot when his time win.)

1. Freezing to death means that he is very cold
2. Told him a million means he he was told several times.
3. Best coffee shop in the world means that the coffee shop has the best coffee in all the area
4. Hadn't slept in ages means that she couldn't sleep for a long time
5. Waiting in line forever means that he was waiting in line for a very long time
6. So hot i couldn't breath means that the heat outside was oppressive
7. My heart stopped when I saw my old friend means that she was
both shocked and surprised to see her old friend
8. His whole world came crashing down an event took place which caused his whole outlook on life to change for the better or for the worse

1.I was (freezing to death) mean exaggeration very cold.
2,she had told him (a million time) mean lot of times.
3.this is(the best coffee)=the person magnification too much the coffee.
4.She hadn´t(slept in ages)mean she doesn´t have slept her correctly hours.
5 Waiting in(this line forever)means looks like the person is a long time waiting)
6.So hot (I could not breath)=the weather was in excess to hot at Florida and it´s hard to breath.
7.My( heart stopped) when I saw my old friend = when a person feel emotinal to saw someone for long time.
8.His whole world (came crashing down)= when a thief is arrested, his life have change for a worse days in jaill.
9.He saw his (whole life flashing)=he saw all his moments of his life when occur the accident.
10.He talks (nonstop)= he talks a lot after he worn the game.
