Example: Samantha cried a pool of tears when her friend left for college.
The hyperbole is shown in italics in the sentence above. Did Samantha's tears actually fill an entire pool? What is it called when you make something MORE than what it is, in order to prove a point? ____________________________________________________________________________________________

Story Starter
Directions: Continue the story below by using parallel sentence structure, continuing the point of view, and maintaining the tone created by the author (me!)! Enjoy!!

Family dinners were special at the Velasquez home. Each night at about 5:30 PM, everyone would sit down at the dining room table to enjoy a delicious meal while participating in wonderful conversations with all who joined them. On this particular evening, however, the doorbell rang just as salad was being served, followed by intense knocking that became loud rapping.
