School is in Session!

I am thrilled to launch Back to the Blackboard, where I will create lessons for all of you, while maintaining links to the sites we know and love. This will be your one-stop classroom, with everything you need to learn and succeed!

                                            Reading and Writing Classes

                  Work Covered Will Include:

  • Blackboard skills in idioms, grammar, parallel sentence structure, Q & A, cause and effect, literary devices, vocabulary, and root of the week (plus so much more--just like the blackboard always presented at the start of every in-person class!)
  • Reading and text analysis (annotating whenever possible!)
  • Paraphrase and inference methods
  • Context clues and word usage/connotation
  • Proofreading and editing skills
  • Poetry (rhyme scheme, alliteration, repetition, and the use of meter, such as iambic pentameter among other forms)
  • Poetry writing, including creating haiku and the sonnet
  • Science units with an emphasis on genetics (including the use of Punnett squares to predict a biological outcome), cell theory, periodic table, and an overview of life science, physical science,  and earth science topics
  • Social Studies units that include content such as maps, diagrams, charts, graphs, U. S. documents, geography, significant eras, and so much more!!
                                        Our Goals:

Since the pandemic began, we teachers have been scrambling to put together materials, resources, and skill sheets to keep our students in motion and our classes progressing. Often, this requires many forms of communication (and a lot of buttons for you students to press!). Having everything in one place makes communication easier for all of us!

In fact, my goal is to replicate everything we do in the physical classroom so that learning continues in the most efficient way possible!

Note: We will use this website in class to accompany new lessons as well as at home to complete independent work.
